After collision on Saturday: penalty for Miguel Molina
For Audi driver Miguel Molina, the season opening race at the Hockenheimring has consequences. On Saturday, the Spaniard caused a collision with the BMW M4 DTM driven by António Félix da Costa and the stewards of the meeting gave him a penalty for this action. The verdict: Molina will be dropped three positions on the starting grid for the race on Sunday.
In the battle for twelfth place, Molina came closer and closer to the Portuguese after the action in the first to corners. Just before the end of the opening lap, it came to a collision, which led to Molina being penalised for causing it.
Da Costa, who finished 13th, had the following view of the situation: “I had a very good first lap and was the second best BMW behind Marco Wittmann. However, I was then hit by Miguel Molina and spun off the track. That dropped me to the back of the field.” For Molina, the race was over after nine laps following a collision with Mercedes-Benz driver Maximilian Götz.
