DTM Zandvoort: Race 2 at a glance

António Félix da Costa wins second race in Zandvoort.

In the DTM race at Zandvoort on Sunday, António Félix da Costa scores his maiden DTM race win. With his BMW M4 DTM, the Portuguese finished 0.4 seconds ahead of his fellow BMW driver Augusto Farfus. Bruno Spengler, Timo Glock and Marco Wittmann in third to fifth place completed the top result for BMW. Pascal Wehrlein became the best-placed driver of a Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM in sixth place, Mattias Ekström ended up as the best-placed Audi driver in seventh place.

 

Start Félix da Costa pulls a gap. Spengler overtakes Farfus for second going into the first corner.
Lap 1 Félix da Costa is leading from Spengler, Farfus, Wittmann, Molina, Juncadella, Glock, Tomczyk, Wehrlein and Paffett.
Lap 2 Mortara overtakes Martin under braking for Tarzan in the battle for 13th, Tambay and Martin tangle coming out of Tarzan. Martin runs through the gravel trap.
Lap 4 DRS has been enabled.
Lap 6 The first eleven drivers are within five seconds. Martin battles with Auer for 22nd place.
Lap 8 Martin overtakes Auer for 22nd under braking for Tarzan.
Lap 11 Glock is making a pit stop. Green also into the pits.
Lap 12 Spengler, Wittmann, Molina, Juncadella, Tomczyk, Wehrlein, Mortara, Di Resta into the pits.
Lap 13 Félix da Costa, Farfus, Wickens, Ekström into the pits.
Lap 14 Paffett, Vietoris, Tambay, Blomqvist into the pits
Lap 15 Martin into the pits.
Lap 16 Wittmann and Auer collide, the Austrian slides into the gravel trap. Tambay tangles with Wickens and Juncadella. Tomczyk and Molina collide as well.
Lap 17 Tomczyk is driving slowly, there is damage to the left front side of his car. He parks his car in the Club corner, off the track.
Lap 18 Incident between Auer and Wittmann is under investigation. Paffett overtakes Green and is now 18. Auer into the pits.
Lap 19 No further action concerning the incident between Wittmann and Auer.
Lap 20 Rockenfeller into the pits.
Lap 21 Green and Di Resta overtake Wickens coming out of Tarzan. Juncadella and Mortara collide at Scheivlak, Juncadella jumps over the curbstones and parks his car along the track. Mortara into the pits, retires.
Lap 22 Juncadella also into the pits and retires. Scheider makes his regular stop. Incident between Juncadella and Mortarta is under investigation.
Lap 23 Wehrlein overtakes Molina at Tarzan, Vietoris gets past as well. Müller into the pits. The incident between Juncadella and Mortara will be reported to the stewards.
Lap 24 Blomqvist runs into Wickens's car, the Canadian spins at Tarzan, but continues. The incident is under investigation. Götz into the pits.
Lap 25 Blomqvist gets a drive-through for the collision with Wickens.
Lap 26 All drivers having made their stops, Félix da Costa is leading from Farfus, Spengler, Glock, Wittmann, Wehrlein, Vietoris, Ekström, Tambay and Paffett. Blomqvist comes into the pit lane for his drive through penalty.
Lap 30 The first four BMW drivers, Félix da Costa, Farfus, Spengler and Glock, are within 1.3 seconds.
Lap 31 Müller into the pits, he retires.
Lap 33 Ekström attacks Wehrlein in the battle for sixth.
Lap 34 Slight drizzle.
Lap 39 Final lap.
Finish Félix da Costa wins from Farfus, Spengler, Glock and Wittmann as BMW locks out the first five places. Wehrlein comes sixth as the best-placed Mercedes-Benz driver, Ekström is seventh for Audi, followed by Vietoris, Tambay and Paffett.
