A formula making for a great balance of power
Performance weights have been used in DTM since the beginning of the 2014 season. In the 2015 season kick-off, at Hockenheim, all the cars started into the season with a weight of 1,120 kilogramme. Depending on the results, a driver has to take performance weights up to a maximum of 20kg aboard and may get rid of a maximum of 15kg. The exact key for the performance-weight assignment has been stipulated in DTM’s sporting regulations and here it is described in-depth.
In addition, DTM.com provides with immediate effect an up-to-date overview of the weights assigned to the cars prior to the respective race meeting. The Zandvoort weekend, for instance, will be contested by Gary Paffett, Mattias Ekström, Robert Wickens, Christian Vietoris, Daniel Juncadella, Edoardo Mortara, Jamie Green, Pascal Wehrlein and Mike Rockenfeller with a vehicle weight of 1,130kg. While Marco Wittmann, Bruno Spengler, António Félix da Costa, Timo Glock, Augusto Farfus, Tom Blomqvist and Martin Tomczyk represent the other end of the weight chart. Their DTM racers will weigh just 1,105 kilos, in the races at the dune circuit.
