Front row of the grid for BMW – Wehrlein third
Once again, a BMW is on pole position for the race at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben on Sunday: in qualifying for the 14th DTM season race, Augusto Farfus secured himself the best grid position with a lap time of 1:20.632 minutes. For Farfus, it is the fifth pole position of his DTM career. With Tom Blomqvist, another BMW driver is lining up on the front row alongside the Brazilian, making Blomqvist the best-placed rookie. Pascal Wehrlein, who claimed back first place in the drivers’ standings yesterday, has good chances to extend his lead. The Mercedes-Benz driver claimed third place on the grid in qualifying and thus ranks ahead of his fiercest rival, Mattias Ekström. For the Swede, who didn’t score any points in the race on Saturday, things didn’t go to plan in qualifying on Sunday either. Ekström will be starting his 157th DTM race from 18th place on the grid. For his fellow Audi driver Miguel Molina, it went slightly better: he ended up ninth as the best-placed Audi driver. Race winner Glock, the ex-Formula 1 driver who scored his second DTM race win on Saturday, will be starting from seventh position. The race in the Magdeburger Börde gets underway at 15.10 hrs. Live broadcast on the first German TV channel ARD from Oschersleben starts at 15.00 hrs.
