Green fastest with fresh tyres
A respectable achievement for Jamie Green. Last in the drivers’ standings, he emerged fastest from Sunday’s third free practice at Hockenheim. The Audi driver topped the time sheets with 1m33.032s and ended up ahead of BMW’s Marco Wittmann (1m33.380s) and yesterday’s pole sitter, Mercedes-AMG driver Lucas Auer (1m33.511s). “I wouldn’t rate the free practice result too highly. I was one of the few drivers with fresh tyres,” Green said.
Serial winner René Rast was classified fourth (1m33.713s). “I was able to drive many laps, I had a good rhythm. The car handles well, that was positive,” the Audi driver said after completing 21 laps, the highest number of all drivers. His rivals in the battle for the title, Mercedes-AMG drivers Gary Paffett and Paul Di Resta, were classified ninth (1m33.938s) and 13th(1m34.075s) respectively.
The starting grid positions for the second race will be determined in second qualifying from 11.10 hrs. The race starts at 13.30 hrs. The action will be streamed live at DTM.com/live and in the DTM apps for iOS and Android.
