Heavy rain at Spielberg – Warm-up stopped
After bright sunshine and perfect conditions on the first two days of the DTM race weekend, the sky over the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg presented itself in an entirely different guise on Sunday. Since the early morning hours, the flood gates have been open and rain fell on the track, very heavy at times. The changed conditions also affected the DTM drivers in warm-up on Sunday morning. The race of the Audi TT Cup on the support package already had to be stopped after four laps due to a heavy accident – thankfully without any serious injuries – the first DTM session was stopped early as well.
Timo Glock had a brief excursion with his BMW, after which warm-up was already aborted after five minutes. “The teams informed us that water is standing at several places on the track and little rivulets run across the track. Therefore, we had no other option than stopping warm-up right away,” DTM race director Sven Stoppe said.
