NORISRING: RACE 1 IN DETAIL

Pascal Wehrlein decided the first DTM race at the Norisring in 2015 in his favour. With a margin of 0.356 seconds, the Mercedes-Benz driver crossed the finish line as the winner. His fellow Mercedes-Benz drivers Robert Wickens and Gary Paffett rounded out the podium while Christian Vietoris, another Mercedes-Benz driver, came fourth. Over the distance of 40 minutes, Bruno Spengler drove the fastest BMW M4 DTM. The best-placed Audi driver was Jamie Green, who defended his points’ lead with his seventh-place finish.

 

Start Paffett has the better start, but Vietorius is first into the first corner, Green runs wide and drops back.
Lap 1 Molina spins in the first corner, Auer and Blomqvist tangle and get stuck. Safety car is deployed.
Lap 2 Blomqvist into the pits.
Lap 4 Restart.
Lap 5 Vietoris is leading from Paffett, Wickens, Di Resta, Tomczyk, Juncadella, Wehrlein, Farfus, Spengler, Rockenfeller. Molina gets a drive through because of a jump start. He comes in at the end of the lap. Martin also comes into the pits, he retires.
Lap 10 With Vietoris, Paffett, Wickens, Di Resta, Tomczyk, Juncadella and Rockenfeller, the first seven drivers are on rain tyres. Pascal Wehrlein is the best-placed driver with slick tyros in eighth place.
Lap 11 Wickens overtakes Paffett for second under braking for Dutzendteichkehre. Blomqvist into the pits, he retires.
Lap 14 DRS has been enabled. Paffett into the pits for a tyre change.
Lap 15 Vietoris, Wickens, Rockenfeller into the pits. They rejoin behind Pascal Wehrlein, who has started the race on slicks.
Lap 16 Di Resta, Tomczyk into the pits.
Lap 17 Di Resta spins at Schöller-S after contact with Green. Juncadella into the pits. Di Resta also turns into the pits, he retires.
Lap 18 Incident between Di Resta and Green under investigation.
Lap 19 Vietoris is leading from Wehrlein, Wickens, Paffett, Farfus, Spengler, Green, Tomczyk, Juncadella and Wittmann.
Lap 20 No further action concerning the incident between Green and Di Resta.
Lap 21 Wickens overtakes Vietoris while accelerating out of the Grundig hairpin and is now second.
Lap 23 Paffett overtakes Vietoris under braking for Dutzendteich and is now third.
Lap 26 Paffett attacks Wickens under braking for Grundig, but to no avail.
Lap 30 Spengler and Green overtake Farfus at Grundig for fifth and sixth place.
Lap 34 Wickens is right on the tail of Wehrlein's car - the battle for first place starts.
Lap 40 Tomczyk overtakes Green and is now sixth.
Lap 42 Ekström locks up under braking for Grundig and drops back to 17th.
Lap 46 Final lap. Wehrlein wins from Wickens, Paffett, Vietoris, Spengler, Tomczyk, Green, Farfus, Wittmann and Juncadella.
