With eight race weekends of the 2015 DTM season contested, the fight for the title still isn’t over. Nonetheless, Pascal Wehrlein succeeded in extending his lead over Edoardo Mortara and Mattias Ekström in the two races at the Nürburgring. While the 21-year old added 25 points to his tally, Mortra and Ekström had to settle for scoring 18 points and one point respectively, in the Eifel.
Both podiums featured drivers representing all the manufacturers. In the eventful Saturday race, BMW M4 DTM driver Maxim Martin celebrated his first win in the 2015 season and the second in his DTM career. Second place was secured by Audi’s Mortara and Mercedes-Benz ace Wehrlein completed the podium by finishing third.
On Sunday, the 24 drivers provided the crowds one of the most intoxicating races of the entire season. Only the battle for the first three positions didn’t last very long. Audi’s Miguel Molina proved to be invincible, in the 16th round of the season and his 67th DTM race, and celebrated the first win in his DTM career. Behind him, Paul Di Resta (Mercedes-Benz) took the chequered flag in second position and BMW’s Bruno Spengler came third.
